Eleven tech startups with high prospects of growth have joined Alexandria’s first-ever tech accelerator program, the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership announced with program manager FedTech and the City of Alexandria Wednesday (Aug. 12).
The 11 participants were chosen among 41 applications for the Accelerate ALX program beginning in August. According to AEDP, the companies “represent high-growth sectors including defense, aerospace, health tech, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and cybersecurity.”
Through the 18-week hybrid Accelerate ALX program, startup founders will get individual mentoring, expert instruction and networking opportunities with peers, customers, investors and the regional innovation community. The program, backed by $200,000 in city funding, is provided at no cost to startups and no equity taken.
“We are thrilled to welcome these 11 companies to the inaugural Accelerate ALX cohort,” said Philomena Fitzgerald, AEDP’s senior manager for strategic initiatives and innovation. “They exemplify the kind of innovation taking place every day in Alexandria and the dedicated founders who are using technology to improve outcomes in such a wide variety of fields.”
Arlington-based FedTech, which specializes in running innovation programs for federal agencies, state and local governments, contractors and research and development organizations, was previously chosen to lead the program. AEDP says the cohort was chosen to reflect the diversity of Alexandria’s neighborhoods and population. It includes three female-founded startups, three veteran-founded startups and five from underrepresented races or ethnicities.
The accelerator is the first strategy outlined in the ALX Forward framework, a roadmap for Alexandria’s economic future approved by City Council in January. The program will be offered through National Landing’s new innovation district, National Innovation Quarter, and will end with a public showcase event in December.

The Authentic Consortium’s Healthcare Informatics AI is called “Triad Health Engine,” and it is a rural-health platform focused on community health intelligence, revenue improvement, and operational support for clinics. It solves the problem of fragmented rural clinic management by helping organizations find missed billing dollars, track grants, stay ahead of compliance deadlines, and monitor local health and supply risks.
Atlas Geo Technologies LLC (Old Town)
Atlas GEO Technologies operates three live geospatial SaaS products that turn location data (mainly crash analytics) into the reports state and local governments need to apply for federal funding, stay compliant, and make better decisions.
Avara AI (Old Town)
Avara is an AI company building a parcel-level digital twin that helps governments understand property values and simulate how planning and policy decisions shape communities.
Barding Defense (West End)
An intelligence and orchestration platform for offensive cyber operations (red teaming, penetration testing). It sits above existing command-and-control frameworks and turns fragmented operator activity into structured, query-able intelligence.
Choros (Arlandria/Chirilagua)
Choros is a paid membership platform built on the psychology of how men actually make friends: small groups, shared activities, and agent-assisted coordination.
Future Energy Resources, LLC (West End)
